KYOTO 6-4-06
Gion. The geisha district.
Here, among the teahouses and private clubs, you can catch a glimpse of a Geisha or Maiko in full dress.
A Maiko is an apprentice Geisha who must must undergo a period of training that generally takes 5 years.
So Maiko are sort of "Geisha squires".
Beautiful Kyoto

A crowded street on the way up to Kiyomizu Temple.
You can see the tall spire at center in the distance.
